We invest in weapons more than we invest in women and girls. 2024

As a UN Women UK delegate at this years United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), I had the honour of listening in to a variety of talks from a diverse range of members/representatives across the world who had a like minded passion, to create a safe space for women’s voices to be heard and listened to, with this year’s focus on poverty.

This quote was from one of the panels I listened to and I think really reality of the challenges women and young girls face. Why do we invest in weapons, when women and girls are fighting for basic human rights like education, access to health care, access to even walking the streets.

In creating wall hangings like this, I hope they spark ‘uncomforable’ conversations in the home so as a community, we can better our practice of collective care and inclusivity. Encouraging us to think beyond our borders and every day routines.
