Soft Portraits. 2024

Soft Portraits is a project that explores the expression of the inner child through textiles and child-friendly mediums, within the context of traditional portraiture. It challenges the notion of whether we ever truly grow up, and whether we should. The project inspires the viewer to reconnect with their playful expression and inner child.

Inspired by Moki Cherry, Post-Impressionism, and Renaissance frames, I experiment with mixed media, focusing on texture, layering, and colour. My sketchbook scans show the evolution from observational portrait drawings to textile-based work. This project blends traditional and contemporary practices, exploring themes of identity and the emotional power of play.
